MINNEAPOLIS – (Business Wire) Because We Care (BWC) is pleased to present Lifesong 2009: Applaud and Pause for a Cause, hosted by Broadway star, acclaimed writer, and television personality, Bruce Vilanch, on Saturday, June 20, at 7 p.m. The event, held at the Music Box Theatre in downtown Minneapolis, features performances by more than a dozen nationally-recognized entertainers who are donating their time and travel expenses for this one-night extravaganza in the Twin Cities.
Entertainers appearing with Bruce Vilanch will include acclaimed Tony Award nominee and cabaret star Sharon McNight, entertainer and pianist Mark Nadler, singer KT Sullivan, and musical director Ron Snyder. Other cabaret performers include Cindy Benson, Eric Michael Gillett, Bruce A. Henry, Jane A. Johnson, Miss Peggy Judy, Quinn Lemley, Craig LiaBraaten, Karen Saunders, Markus Simeone, Richard, Skipper, Irene Soderberg, and Mark David Williams—and more.
Ticket prices for the event range from $30 to $75; upper level ticket holders are invited to join many of the performers at both a pre- and post-event party, hosted by Chef John Michael Lerma at the Millennium Hotel. Tickets are available online at www.musicboxtheatre.org .
Because We Care (BWC), a Minnesota performing arts alliance responding to AIDS is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization founded in 1994 by a group of people living with HIV/AIDS. The LIFESONG performance series has become a living memorial to the founders’ many friends lost through AIDS and HIV and—with support from the entertainment industry—provides resources to Minnesotans living with, or at risk for HIV infection. Proceeds from this performance will benefit the HIV services and prevention programs of the Minnesota AIDS Project.
This year’s performance will feature a special presentation honoring Sharon McNight for her humanitarian work in HIV/AIDS as well as an acknowledgment of other Broadway, Hollywood, and Cabaret performers who have given their time and commitment to fighting this disease.
Sponsors of this year’s Lifesong 2009 are the Millennium Hotel in Minneapolis, Chambers Hotel and Cenveo Printing.
