Q Cinema Turns 13
by Jimmy Fowler
Q Cinema, the Fort’s gay and lesbian film organization, will present its 13th annual international film festivalThursday June 2 through Sunday June 5. All screenings will take place at the Rose Marine Theatre. Visiting actors and directors are scheduled to participate in Q & A’s after many of the screenings.
Opening night flick is Caspar Andreas’ Going Down in La-La Land (2010), about the comical and desperate choices of young actors trying to stay afloat in Hollywood. Closing night offers the Southwest premiere of J.T. Tepnapa’s Judas Kiss (2011), about a troubled filmmaker who returns to judge a film festival at his alma mater and encounters a life-changing mystery.
The festival highlight will likely be “An Evening With Bruce Vilanch†(8pm Sat June 4), a one-man show featuring the actor/writer/multi-Emmy winner/Hollywood Squares alum/veteran go-to quipteur for the Oscar, Tony, and Emmy broadcasts.
