Poppy Champlin, Sandra Valls, Alec Mapa and Scott Kennedy are teaming up for Showtime‘s Pride: The Gay and Lesbian Comedy Slam premiering June 2, 2010. Hosted by famed comedy writer Bruce Vilanch, Pride will follow in the footsteps of the Showtime-produced The Original Latin Divas of Comedy. In a press statement released today Poppy raved, “I’m thrilled to be representing lesbians all over the world in this Showtime special. We’re no longer relegated to the gay network. Yay! But my pants look too short.” Sandra confessed, “A few days ago, I was told that my comedy was too gay and not mainstream enough. Well, here I am on Showtime! That’s mainstream. So there.”
Pride: The Gay and Lesbian Comedy Slam will air on Showtime as part of the LOL Comedy Festival. Tune in to catch Poppy, Sandra, Alex and Scott rioting the gay streets and taking no hostages on June 2, 18, 29 (Showtime), June 7, 11 (Showtime 2), and June 9, 12 (Showtime Showcase). Watch a sneak peek trailer and be sure to catch Poppy and Sandra live in Chicago with the Queer Queens of Qomedy at Zanies June 14,15,16.
