Match Game – as it did in the past – featured a panel of celebrities to help the contestants win money. The panel consisted of Adam Corolla (The Man Show), Adrianne Curry (America’s Next Top Model and My Fair Brady), George Foreman, Kathy Griffin (Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List), Bruce Vilanch (Hollywood Squares) and perennial Match Game panelist Betty White (The Golden Girls). Each of these panelists also appeared in the premiere episode of Gameshow Marathon as dejected audience members in the segment for The Price Is Right. It should further be noted that both panelist Kathy Griffin and contestant Tim Meadows were celebrity judges on another reality show this summer, Last Comic Standing (reality critical mass approaches!)
Following the same format as the classic show, Bass and Najimy attempt to fill in the blanks in phrases with help from the panel. The winner of this game will join Brande Roderick (“Baywatch”) in the grand finale.
“Match Game” aired from 1973-1982 and was hosted by Gene Rayburn. An updated version of the show aired in 1998 and was hosted by Michael Burger.
