MOVIN’ OUT: The surprise cameo appearance by Billy Joel at the opening of Movin’ Out brought the house to its feet. Joel and Twyla Tharp collaborated on the Tony Award-winning show that has moved to L.A.’s Pantages Theatre for a few more weeks. The opening was star studded. Terry Allen Kramer, the producer of the show, flew out for the evening. Among the stars were hoofers Mitzi Gaynor, Neve Campbell, and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Non-hoofers adding glitter were Bruce Vilanch, Red Buttons, Lou Alexander, James Nederlander, Jr., Phyllis Diller, Henry and Stacy Winkler, Maxine and Gary Smith, Rene Taylor and Joe Bologna, Neil Papiano, Carol Bayer Sager, and Bob Daly.
