During one number in the musical Hairspray on Friday night, the music abruptly stopped and the curtain came down at the Buell Theatre.
Bruce Vilanch, who plays the matriarch Edna, explained to the audience that the lead actress Carly Jibson had pulled a muscle in her back.
Exit Carly; enter understudy Keala Settle.
The show went on with Settle doing a bang-up job, I’m told.
Jibson is expected back on stage for tonight’s performance, according to Denver Center Attractions spokesman Jeff Hovorka
