BRUCE VILANCH is beardless and out of his T-shirts, set to play Edna Turnblad in the national company of “Hairspray,” and the incomparable Lainie Kazan’s name is being bandied about to replace Harvey Fierstein when he decides to exit the still-SRO Broadway musical. But if Lainie – who would be the first “real” woman to play this role – doesn’t step up, we’d like to nominate John Goodman.
