<p>Aventura Arts &amp; Cultural Center Announces 2018-19 Season. The Aventura Arts &amp; Cultural Center is located at 3385 N.E. 188 Street in Aventura.</p>

<p>UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will continue its 2014 developmental reading series July 24 at The <a class="zem_slink" title="New York Public Library for the Performing Arts" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Public_Library_for_the_Performing_Arts" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">New York Public Library for the Performing Arts</a> at Lincoln Center with a presentation of <a class="zem_slink" title="I Had a Ball" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Had_a_Ball" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">I Had a Ball</a> in the Bruno Walter Auditorium.</p>
<p>The 2:30 PM reading will star <a class="zem_slink" title="Emmy Award" href="http://www.emmys.tv/awards" target="_blank" rel="homepage">Emmy Award</a> winner Bruce Vilanch (Hairspray, “Hollywood Squares”) — in the role originated by comedian <a class="zem_slink" title="Buddy Hackett" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddy_Hackett" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">Buddy Hackett</a> — and Natalie Venetia Belcon (Matilda, Avenue Q). Ben West directs. Additional casting will be announced at a later time.</p>
<p>I Had a Ball, the 1964 Coney Island musical comedy, has a book by <a class="zem_slink" title="Tony Award" href="http://www.tonyawards.com/" target="_blank" rel="homepage">Tony Award</a> winner <a class="zem_slink" title="Jerome Chodorov" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerome_Chodorov" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">Jerome Chodorov</a> and a score by <a class="zem_slink" title="Stan Freeman" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Freeman" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">Stan Freeman</a> and Jack Lawrence. The score has been newly arranged by musical director Fran Minarik.</p>
<p>I Had a Ball is described as &#8220;a vibrant, colorful confection following the delightfully eccentric denizens of Coney Island and the feisty fortune-teller who singlehandedly sets off a series of raucous romantic entanglements. Sparks fly, love blossoms, and hilarious hijinks ensue in this bright and brassy entertainment!&#8221;</p>

<p>I hear the show is sleek with fast-paced yeas and bravos. He will make the audience snicker, as you break into belly laughs &#8211; and then whammo! Yep &#8211; Vilanch struts his stuff.</p>
<p>This is a Must-See! Romantic <a class="zem_slink" title="Sparks (band)" href="http://www.allsparks.com/" target="_blank" rel="homepage">Sparks</a> light up the stage. The show continues laughs along with romance and charm. It all builds to the final Curtain.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re told that the Direction is awesome. It&#8217;s emotionally Exhilarating with gorgeous girls and guys. Thats what we need &#8211; a big, old-fashioned musical.</p>

<p>An electrifying story of ambition and survival, <a class="zem_slink" title="Platinum (musical)" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platinum_%28musical%29">Platinum</a> stars Donna Bullock (Ragtime, City of Angels, A Class Act) as Lila Halliday, a dazzling Hollywood legend trying to make a comeback in the explosive music industry of the 1970s. Determined to reignite her career, she turns to rock star Dan Riley and finds herself falling for him as they both fight to stay in the game.</p>

The musical is choreographed by Rommy Sandhu (How Now, Dow Jones, <a class="zem_slink" title="Mary Poppins (musical)" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Poppins_%28musical%29">Mary Poppins</a>) with musical arrangements by Mr. Friedman (&#8220;The Electric Company&#8221;), musical direction by Fran Minarik (Sessions, The J.A.P. <p>The original <a class="zem_slink" title="Broadway theatre" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadway_theatre">Broadway</a> production opened November 12, 1978 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre starring Alexis Smith under the direction of <a class="zem_slink" title="Joe Layton" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Layton">Joe Layton</a>. The musical played 33 performances and received two Tony nominations for Smith and co-star Richard Cox.</p>
