Parades have been shortened in the city to save money on police overtime. But while the annual New York LGBT Pride March down Fifth Avenue will be 16 blocks fewer on Sunday, expect the same eclectic procession of pride purveyors — plus outrageous gay comic Bruce Vilanch as a celebrity judge. “Iâ€ve never judged a parade before and thought thisâ€d be fun,” says Vilanch, who is known as the punch line writer of choice for awards shows including the Emmys, Oscars and Tonys. “Who doesnâ€t want to judge people? Simon Cowellâ€s gone — somebody has to step in!” As for which marchers might get his top vote, he suggests men in (partial) uniform. “If the firemen from the calendar are marching, Iâ€ll certainly look at that,” he quips. Also, the PrideFest street fair — 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Hudson Street between West 14th Street and Abington Square — will feature its first-ever pet pride costume contest at 12:30 p.m. The parade kicks off noon Sunday at Fifth Avenue and 36th Street, and finishes at Christopher and Greenwich streets.
