The internationally acclaimed Boston Gay Men’s Chorus will present Crescendo, its annual benefit gala, on Saturday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Royale (279 Tremont Street). The gala includes an intimate performance by special guest Bruce Vilanch. Live and silent auctions will have one-of-a-kind items up for bid. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served. The event is held to raise funds to support the BGMC’s concerts and community outreach programs.

The special guest host and entertainer for the event will be comedian, writer, and television personality Bruce Vilanch. Bruce has wowed Broadway in “Hairspray,” served as head writer and the center square for Hollywood Squares, and has written material for Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin, Joan Rivers, and dozens of other performers.

“Crescendo is a vital source of funds that support our programs such as our free high school outreach concerts and performances in suburban and rural communities around New England,” BGMC executive director Steven Smith said.

More than 150 auction items will be up for bid, including a variety of theater tickets, fine dining gift certificates, home goods, and art. Featured items include a trip to Los Angeles with VIP tickets for a taping of “Ellen,” an NYC Broadway weekend, Drag Camp for four with Verna Turbulence, and even the chance to conduct the BGMC in concert.

Tickets are $75 and special VIP tickets at $125 include a pre-event cocktail reception with Bruce Vilanch. Tickets are available at www.bgmc.org or by calling the BGMC at (617) 542-SING.
