CORONA – A line of silver Chrysler sedans was parked near idle earthmovers Saturday, symbolizing Hollywood coming to Corona.
The event at the 543-acre Dos Lagos development along Interstate 15 was the taping of a segment of “Celebrity Fit Club,” a reality television show.
“Celebrity Fit Club,” in its second season on VH1, features celebrities who are 20 to 50 pounds overweight who are committed to losing weight through exercise, diet and counseling. The eight who range in age from 26 to 57 are divided into teams of four.
Celebrities Kelly LeBrock and Tempestt Bledsoe work to move their Zorb across the Dos Lagos golf course in Corona.
Celebrities on the Dos Lagos golf course this day included Chastity Bono (daughter of Sonny and Cher), Countess Vaughn (of “The Parkers”), Jeff Conaway (“Taxi”), Bizzare (“The Longest Yard”), Bruce Vilanch (“Hollywood Squares”), Tempestt Bledsoe (“The Cosby Show”) and Kelly LeBrock (“The Woman in Red”).
The stars teamed up in inflatable, transparent doughnuts to navigate Dos Lagos’ 13th and 14th fairways. A crew of about 40 taped the event.
Producer Matt Allyn said Dos Lagos was chosen as the location because “it was picturesque and big enough to house our event. . . . Dos Lagos was nice enough to say come on down.”
Director Hans Van Reit used five cameras — including hidden ones and one attached to a radio-controlled car — to capture the effort of the celebrities, how difficult the challenge was, and the scope of the course.
Van Reit said each cameras shot about two hours of film, which will be edited down to a three minutes of the most dramatic shots.
An outrigger canoe segment was filmed at Lake Perris two weeks ago.
Bono, of Los Angeles, said she aims to lose 30 pounds.
“It’s going well,” she said. “I’ve lost about 10 pounds so far. I eat mostly fruit, veggies, brown rice, tofu (and) a little meat, sometimes.”
